Whether you’re planning the perfect Valentine’s Day or preparing for the good ol’ cry that’s sure to flow, you’re going to need some songs to supplement this hallmark holiday season. From sad to sexy to all-around soul-touching, we’re here with 5 new tracks that get the job done.
Calling Cadence starts things off with an upbeat single that sounds like fingers intertwined and the classic dance scene in any good coming-of-age movie. “Just The Way It Goes” comes from the Los Angeles-based duo that never fails to bless us with vocal harmonies and genre fusion. Although the single off their upcoming debut album is fragrant with the feeling of love, the lyrics paint a picture of dating in the new age and dealing with loss by simply shaking it off.
“Anti-pop” producer and artist, Danny Dwyer, shares his haunting tune “Asthma” off his upcoming EP which sings to a past love of sorts. It feels like it’s in direct conversation with the next song, “Ghostox:” AWAY’s eerie yet earnest single about the pain of the present.
Los Angeles singer/songwriter and overall luminary, Christian Lee Hutson, gives the playlist a little extra indie umph with “Rubberneckers.” The track off his upcoming EP calls out to a lover with beautiful lyrics backed by the voice of the one and only Phoebe Bridgers. The playlist rounds out with a final track sung by 21-year-old Charlie Hickey who covers 8485’s love song “Hangar.” Known for his gentle guitar-driven tunes, Hickey is the perfect person to catch live as he’s on tour this love-filled month.Want to add a little more California to your life?
